What the Landing will be

On family shoreline held for generations, the Landing is being restored piece by piece while Arkansas rebuilds Lake Conway itself. Here is what stands on this ground and what is planned — nothing more, nothing invented.

Six lakeside cabins in restoration

The original cabins on the peninsula, being brought back one at a time for overnight stays.

The Hi-Way Snack Bar returning

The historic café at the corner of Dam Road and Highway 89, planned to reopen as the Landing’s gathering place.

The RV retreat existing sites

Full-service sites — water, sewer, and electric — on the Landing’s existing park, being refreshed for travelers.

Boat dock & lake access planned

Dock access for guests, and a planned public boat ramp and day-use park in partnership with the City of Mayflower.

Pavilion & gatherings planned

An event pavilion for reunions, weddings, and lake-day gatherings on the family’s peninsula.

The lake is being reborn

Arkansas Game & Fish is rebuilding Lake Conway end to end — a new dam, cleared boat lanes, and thousands of new fish habitats — with the water returning around 2028. The Landing opens with it.

The name on the gate

This shoreline has belonged to the Dunaway family for generations. Walter Dunaway served twelve years as mayor of Conway, and the land at the Highway 89 gateway has stayed in the family ever since — the cabins, the café, the landing itself.

Now, as the state rebuilds the lake, the family is rebuilding the Landing — and giving something back with it: planned public access to the water, so the lake the family has lived beside for generations belongs a little more to everyone.

Every claim on this page is the documented truth. The rest we’ll build — and you can watch it happen on the project page.
